What an inspiring rosé from Spain, this El Aritza Tempranillo Rosado! And that's no surprise, since this rosé is made by none other than the Cruz de Castillo family. A Spanish family originally from Rioja, they produce the finest wines there, but now also in the Utiel Requena wine region. Since 1850, the family has been making the finest wines, and their knowledge and experience are immense! We taste that in this El Aritza rosé. In recent years, Cruz de Castillo has been busy, building a new, modern wine estate and devoting extra attention to the vineyards. The result is wines that prioritize quality and Spanish traditions.

The Tempranillo harvest

The vineyards for El Aritza's rosé are located in Valencia, specifically in Utiel Requena. Here, the grapes receive plenty of sunlight due to their south-facing planting, but also receive plenty of cooling wind. This ocean breeze gives the harvest a uniquely fresh character, perfect for a rosé wine. The El Aritza series owes its name to Francesco Jr., who has been walking the vineyards since he was a child. He was inspired by the "mighty trees" surrounding the vineyards. These trees still surround the vineyards today, creating a unique climate. The Tempranillo for this rosé is harvested early in the season, when it still retains its freshness. We can tell you that this is reflected in the wine.

The fresh taste of the El Aritza Rosado

The bottle of El Aritza Tempranillo Rosado alone is beautiful, but it doesn't stop there. Upon pouring, the first thing we see is the beautiful light pink color. It flows from the glass, offering hints of ripe red fruit like strawberry and raspberry, as well as some grapefruit and lime. The fresh start continues on the palate, as the tongue is pampered by grapefruit and fresh currants. Later, as this rosé swirls around the palate, it also reveals hints of raspberry and a touch of grapefruit. The refreshing finish completes the picture, and yes, Provence has some serious competition, we can tell you. What a beautiful rosé this is for this price.
