Compared to other Moscatos, this Electra from Quady is slightly more aromatic, crisper, and more refreshing. Most are made from Muscat or Alexandria, but this Elextra is made of 75 percent Orange Muscat, with the remainder supplemented with Muscat Canilli. These varieties are more difficult to grow and have smaller yields, but their aromas and flavors are more refined.
The soft sweet wines of Quady
Andrew and Laurel Quady's winemaking adventure began in 1975. In a small town in the San Joaquin Valley, Andrew Quady discovered an unused plot of rare Orange Muscat grapes. These grapes became the first Essensia Orange Muscat Dessert Wine in 1980. The creation of Essensia marked the birth of Quady Winery's Muscat expertise—where the rich flavors of rare Muscat varietals are celebrated and intensified rather than blended and softened. Since then, they have produced a considerable number of quality wines. The varietals used by Quady Winery are rare, delicious expressions of the fruit-filled San Joaquin Valley. The winemaking style is rich, full-bodied, perfectly balanced, and unmatched by any other Muscat available. Quady Winery has become known to many as the experts in sweet wine. As a tribute to Andrew and Laurel Quady's daughter, Ardison Phillips painted the angel on the label.
The vinification of Electra Moscato Quady
To make Electra, free-run juice is fermented at a low temperature for over a month, after which it is cooled, sterile filtered, and bottled. This process preserves its delicate flavors and light effervescence. The result is a soft, sparkling wine with aromas of sweet citrus, peach, and melon. A bouquet of wildflowers refreshes the senses. Electra is a Moscato d'Asti-style picnic wine, perfect for drinking outdoors in warm weather, chilled or on the rocks. Pair it with fresh fruit, salads, spicy Asian and Indian dishes, or light desserts.
