Varietal(s) Sauvignon Blanc

A sensational New Zealand grape is used to produce this white pearl of the Esk Valley. Only the finest grapes are harvested to create the finest juice. The entire vinification process is meticulously monitored to ensure the house's high quality. The result is delicious, with optimal freshness and a wonderful crispness and texture.

The beginning of Esk Valley Winery

Glenvale Winery was founded in 1933 by Robert Bird. He produced fortified wine from the 1930s to the 1970s, when the Esk name was created for a premium range of table wines. The company was eventually acquired by George Fistonich. The concrete vats from the original winery are still in use, and the thick concrete walls of the past are still perfect for aging the wines in a cool, stable environment. The wines are made from grapes grown in Hawke's Bay on the North Island and Marlborough on the South Island. These grapes are known for their fresh characteristics and high quality. Vineyards in the warm Wairau Valley and Awatere Valley were selected for this Sauvignon Blanc to provide structure and body. Yields are carefully managed to maximize quality, and individual plots are harvested and crushed immediately to capture the freshness of the fruit. After fermentation, the wines are left on their lees to develop even more richness and body before being blended and bottled.

Enjoy the fruity Esk Valley Sauvignon Blanc

The result is a wonderfully intense Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of tropical fruit and citrus combined with green herbs. Passion fruit and mango also make an appearance with ample body. Good acidity and freshness. This is an attractive wine that pairs beautifully with various fish dishes. It also pairs well with Asian dishes.
