Wow, what an incredibly beautiful glass of Chardonnay! This Freemark Abbey Chardonnay from Napa Valley is full, rich, complex, and so much more. The beautiful vineyards produce full, powerful bunches, thanks in part to the perfect climate, abundant sunshine, and the cool Pacific mist. This allows for a very long growing season, allowing the Chardonnay grapes to fully develop. And they certainly succeeded, and Freemark Abbey wines are considered the best in the entire region.

Structured and refined wines from Freemark Abbey

In 1974, Jess Jacksons purchased 32 hectares of land in California and began planting grapes. This marked the beginning of the Kendall-Jackson winery's enormous growth and success. Many years later, expansion followed, including the acquisition of Freemark Abbey, one of Napa Valley's most respected wineries, whose history dates back to 1886. Their goal is to create structured and refined wines. The grapes are sourced from various vineyards, each with a unique location and terroir. The soil textures vary from clay, loam, gravel, sand, to volcanic. Cool mornings alternate with warm nights, resulting in a slow ripening period. Everyone has great respect for this beautiful winery, which has contributed to the success of California wines.

Manual harvest for Freemark Abbey Chardonnay Napa Valley

The grapes are harvested by hand. Approximately 60 percent of the must ferments in barrels and the remainder in stainless steel vats. To ensure the wine retains the necessary freshness, malolactic fermentation is not used. Before bottling, 80 percent of the young wine is aged for four months in French oak. This provides it with everything it needs and develops in length and power, which is also noticeable in the aroma. Beautiful, refined aromas of green apple, pear, banana, and pineapple. The lively palate adds notes of citrus and peach. Complex with hints of nutmeg, vanilla, brioche, cloves, and lightly baked apple.
