Vintage Report
According to the Robert Parker reference chart, the 2023 vintage in Tuscany scores 91 points, indicating an excellent year. The wines are of high quality but may still be a bit youthful and developing at present.
The Tuscan wine region is, of course, best known for its red wines, but fortunately, white wines are also grown. This isn't possible everywhere, however, because the soil and climate aren't suitable for white wine production. However, after extensive research by Frescobaldi, they discovered a unique vineyard at an altitude of 700 meters. The cool climate makes this vineyard ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes. The majority of this white Frescobaldi Pomino is made from Chardonnay with a small addition of Pinot Bianco. The grapes receive a relatively large amount of sunshine but are incredibly cooled by the nighttime temperatures and strong winds that blow through the vineyards. This allows the grapes to grow gradually and take in all the nutrients from the nutrient-rich soil.
The old vineyard of Castillo Pomino
Today, the vineyard is mature, and this is reflected in the wine's full-bodied style. All the grapes are grown with the utmost care, and this is clearly evident in the pure style. The winemaker chooses to harvest the grapes during their rest, which happens early in the morning. They are transported in small crates to the press for a direct, soft pressing. The beautiful juice is partially aged in oak barrels, which benefits the wine's structure. During this period, it gains strength and suppleness; drinking this white wine is simply a joy. What does the white wine Frescobaldi Pomino taste like?
Castello di Pomino Frescobaldi is a rich, Chardonnay-style, classy wine. Its straw-yellow color captivates the senses from the moment we pour it. The aromas that emerge are primarily characterized by pear, ripe apple, and peach. A feast for the eyes so far, but when you put it in your mouth, this white Frescobaldi Pomino becomes a true sensation. A wonderfully juicy mouthfeel with fruity nuances of tropical fruit, red apple, peach, and melon. A touch of vanilla and oak on the palate, with lovely fresh notes of grapefruit and lime. What a superb Frescobaldi wine.Product details
