Well-expected, yes, it is! Because this red wine has Great Expectations year after year. The story began after reading the famous book Great Expectations by the English author Charles Dickens. Winemaker and owner of Goedverwacht, Jan du Toit, was inspired by this reading and put it into practice. He founded the Goedverwacht winery and named his wines Great Expectations, because he wants to improve the quality of his wine every year. Well, he certainly succeeded; the wines have skyrocketed in quality and are now fantastic and very consistent. Thanks to Jan's hard work, the vineyards and the winery now stand as a solid foundation.
The unique blend of the Triangle
This red Great Expectations Triangle is winemaker Jan's prestigious project, combining Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grape varieties. Each grape variety thrives in the perfect climate and soil structure. Leave it to Jan, as he knows the tricks of the trade like no other. The grapes bask in the sun and the cooling breeze, resulting in a truly fantastic harvest. Each grape variety is harvested and vinified separately. This is followed by aging for a full fourteen months in French oak barrels. The result is a full-bodied and powerful red wine with the drinkability of South Africa.
