Druif Primitivo, Negroamaro

When we tasted this red wine, the world stood still for a moment; what an unparalleled beauty. It was like stepping into a warm bed, so soft and cozy. The Gran Rosso winery is part of the grand master Botter, a well-known name in the southern Italian wine region of Salento. Here, the winery has planted several plots with the local Negroamaro and Primitivo grape varieties, which blend seamlessly in the bottle. Over the years, significant investment has been made in the Gran Rosso winery, resulting in a fully modernized winery equipped with the latest technology. But the vineyards have also been worked hard to ensure the old vines produce the finest bunches. The result is an exceptionally beautiful red wine from the heel of the boot.

The harvest of the Negroamaro & Primitivo

The vines for this refined wine are planted facing the sun, allowing the grapes to ripen optimally. The cool nights, due to the vineyard's elevated position, also cool the grapes, resulting in a warm, sultry wine with a bite. The grapes are harvested by hand and then rigorously selected to ensure only the finest juice reaches the bottle—after all, it must live up to its name! Gran Rosso is also evident in the aroma: a warm scent of black fruit, plums, a touch of fresh mint, and a touch of spice. On the palate, it's incredibly soft. Initially, we tasted stewed black fruit, chocolate, and a touch of vanilla, followed by spices and an intense caramel note. But everything is so beautifully balanced that this Gran Rosso lives up to its name 100 percent.
