The Ventisquero GREY Syrah is more than just a wine; it's a symbol of perfection, born from the vineyards' ideal location in the renowned Apalta Valley. Thanks to the cool nights, the grapes remain in optimal condition, resulting in a wine of exceptional quality. After careful hand-harvesting, this Syrah is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, some of which are brand new, contributing to its unique character.
The Ambitious Journey of Ventisquero GREY Syrah
Viña Ventisquero, a relative newcomer to the wine world, quickly established itself as a pioneer in modern wine production. Led by Gonzalo Vial, the driving force behind Chile's largest food group, Agrosuper, the winery was founded with a clear vision. Located in the Maipo Valley, it was surrounded by carefully selected vineyards, later expanding into the Casablanca Valley and, of course, the Apalta Valley. Their first harvest in 2001 was the result of dedication and hard work.
The grapes for Ventisquero Grey Syrah are harvested by hand in April, with only the finest bunches selected based on ripeness, color, and aroma. After harvest, they undergo cold maceration at low temperatures, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and then rested for another eight months in the bottle.
