Kaapmoed Chenin Blanc

What a beautiful white wine this Kaapmoed is! It owes its name to the great heroes who left for Cape Town in 1659 to help with the winemaking process. Today, South African wines are an indispensable part of our lives, but in the past, it took courage and daring. To honor the long history of South African winemaking, the winemakers of this white Chenin Blanc named the vineyards and the winery Kaapmoed. The beautifully fresh juice is a feast for the senses, as this Kaapmoed white wine is full of diversity.

The vineyards are situated on the high plains of South Africa to provide Chenin Blanc with everything it needs. The grape thrives on abundant sunshine, but also thrives in cool conditions. Because of the vineyards' high altitude, the Chenin Blanc bunches receive plenty of cooling from the mountain winds that blow through the vineyards. They also benefit from the sharp drop in nighttime temperatures. The climate is therefore unique, and all grapes are harvested early in the morning at perfect ripeness. Upon arrival at Kaapmoed, they are thoroughly inspected and then immediately softly pressed.

This full-bodied Chenin Blanc is a perfect glass of wine, especially at this price point. Pouring it reveals a beautiful, clear, light gold color with a fresh green sparkle. The aroma is lively, with notes of gooseberries, green apple, and grapefruit. The ripe palate reveals hints of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and lime peel. The back of the palate reveals lovely green herbs and a hint of asparagus, but above all, it's refreshing and ripe.
