Varietal(s) Torrontes

For its Terroir Series wines, Kaiken Estate uses only the finest grapes from the finest terroirs. They aim to showcase Argentina's distinctive varietals, creating innovative blends with unique characteristics. This includes this surprisingly refreshing Torrontes.

Perfect climate for Kaiken Terroir Series Torrontes

The highly successful Kaiken Estate winery is located on the eastern slopes of the Andes. Founded in 2002 by Chilean Aurelio Montes, it has become an integral part of the wine world ever since. The name Kaiken comes from the caiquen, a wild goose that crosses the Andes from Chile to Argentina. Montes often made the same flight, and because he regularly saw the geese flying back and forth, the name for the winery was quickly born. The Torrontes grapes for this Terroir Series wine come from the Cafayate Valley. At a high altitude, the grapes enjoy a desert climate with over 320 days of sunshine. The soil consists of sandy loam with granite rocks. This results in unique Torrontes grapes that ripen exceptionally well. At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested by hand and transported to the winery. Here, the grapes are pneumatically pressed and cold-settled for 48 hours. Fermentation then takes place in concrete tanks for about 20 days with selected yeasts. To preserve the aromas and acidity, the winemakers skip malolactic fermentation. This results in a beautiful white wine with excellent acidity and floral aromas.

The refreshing character of Kaiken Terroir Series Torrontes

The Kaiken Terroir Series Torrontes has a pale yellow color with greenish highlights. The wine has a soft aroma of white flowers, orange peel, and lemon. The taste is very refreshing with a light limoncello finish. This Torrontes pairs perfectly with fish, poultry, vegetables, and slightly spicy dishes.
