Buy or order Torrontes wine
Torrontes, Argentina's white grape par excellence! However, it's not an easy grape to grow. Everything must be in good condition for the Torrontes grape, including the vineyard, climate, and pruning techniques. Torrontes thrives in vineyards at high altitudes with plenty of cool temperatures. Daytime and nighttime temperature differences in the vineyards can reach as much as 25 degrees Celsius. This allows the Torrontes grapes to receive ample afternoon sun and coolness in the evening and night, ensuring a slow and balanced growth process. The grape grows in various regions of Argentina, but primarily in Mendoza, where the white grape has deep roots.Where does the Torrontes come from?
Torrontes originates in Spain, specifically in Galicia. But today, it's almost exclusively grown in Argentina. Because the soil structure there is ideal for this grape, it produces abundant bunches with the beautiful characteristics of minerality, citrus fruit, and refreshing notes of green apple. Thanks to the cool climate, it is refined and wonderfully fresh, somewhat comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc.Very early in the morning, the harvests are brought in when the grapes are perfectly ripe. This is a crucial and meticulous job, as Torrontes grapes can only be harvested when they are still fresh. This preserves the wine's beautiful characteristics and creates a pleasant, vibrant flavor. All the major wineries, such as Phebus, Domaine Bousquet, and Trapiche, have magnificent vineyards filled with Torrontes grapes.
What do we eat at a Torrontes
What pairs well with a Torrontes wine? Many dishes are actually suitable. Because Torrontes wine naturally has a lovely freshness, it's delicious with a nice piece of white fish. You could also serve the fish with green vegetables and a chive sauce. Chicken dishes, tapas, and fresh fish salads are also delicious with Torrontes wine.Torrontes wine is made for its fruit and freshness, and therefore doesn't age very well. We recommend about three years after harvest. The freshness and beautiful fruit notes will diminish as it ages in the bottle. Top producers of the Torrontes grape are Terrazas, Colome, and Finca La Linda. These wines are perfectly balanced and have a perfect flavor.
