Another stunning wine from the South African winery L'Avenir. Incredibly good. This leading winery in Stellenbosch has existed for over three centuries, but only in the last thirty years has it earned its current reputation. This happened in 1002 when the winery was purchased by Frenchman Marc Wiehe. Thanks in part to him, L'Avenir began focusing primarily on the indigenous Pinotage grape variety and the high-flyer of Stellenbosch and South Africa: Chenin Blanc. Both L'Avenir's Pinotage and Chenin Blanc have already won numerous awards!
The vineyards of L'Avenir
The L'Avenir vineyard is spread throughout Stellenbosch, boasting a presence in all its beautiful locations. The Pinotage grape is the most widely planted variety in these vineyards. This perfect location gives the grapes fantastic quality, partly due to the influence of the ocean. The Indian Ocean lies less than 20 kilometers away. The Pinotage grapes benefit most from this at night, when a gentle sea breeze blows through the vineyards.
The prize winner of L'Avenir
Pinotage wines are renowned for their quality, both nationally and internationally. L'Avenir Provenance Pinotage is no exception. A truly delicious wine, it's a favorite among wine lovers worldwide. In the mid-1990s, this red wine was repeatedly awarded the title of best Pinotage from Stellenbosch. Even today, L'Avenir Provenance Pinotage continues to be praised. In his most recent edition of De Grote Hamersma, Harold Hamersma awarded this wine an 8.5. A remarkable achievement for this South African wine.
