With the impressive history of the L'Avenir winery, we also have high expectations for this Chenin Blanc wine. For years, L'Avenir has been surprising us time and again with refined, elegant, and flavorful wines that are also affordably priced. Although the winery dates back to the 17th century, it only really began its serious business in the early 1990s, when Frenchman Marc Wiehe purchased the estate. From then on, the winery flourished, with its local favorites, Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, achieving high ratings.

A Chenin Blanc wine from South Africa

L'Avenir's vineyards are located in arguably South Africa's most beautiful wine region: Stellenbosch. Driving east from the bustling metropolis of Cape Town, you'll find yourself in a completely different world in just 45 minutes. A hilly, almost mountainous landscape, with vineyards as far as the eye can see. Nestled among them are L'Avenir's impressive vineyards. When Marc Wiehe started in 1992, he focused on two heroes of the South African wine world: Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. A wise move, as it turns out. L'Avenir wines dominated all competitions in the years that followed. We expect the same to happen with this latest L'Avenir Horizon Chenin Blanc.

Impressions of L'Avenir Horizon Chenin Blanc

A definitive Chenin Blanc wine, the envy of other South African wineries. The winemaker at L'Avenir shows off his best with this white wine. As soon as you dip your nose into the glass of L'Avenir Horizon Chenin Blanc, the aromas of Chenin Blanc greet you. You smell distinct notes of Granny Smith, white peach, and sweet pineapple. The palate is megalomaniac: it leaves you feeling incredibly cheerful. A rich bouquet rolls over your tongue, with pineapple and green apple taking center stage. The balanced finish of this L'Avenir white wine is striking.
