The vineyard's high altitude has resulted in this wonderfully intense Malbec. It is characterized by its fruity notes and powerful character. The La Posta wine series was created by Laura Catena, who provided a platform for smaller winemakers. The wines are named after the grape growers. The Fazzio family is a relative newcomer to Mendoza, but they immediately attracted attention with their wines from high-altitude vineyards.
12 months of wood aging for Fazzio Malbec
In 1917, Domingo's grandfather emigrated to Argentina. His son bought 15 hectares there for viticulture. Then, in 2005, Domingo purchased a 100-hectare vineyard. And so, the family's winery continues to grow. The vineyard is ideally situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters, on the Tuna River, which provides irrigation water. This high altitude has resulted in a wonderfully intense Malbec. After the grapes are harvested, a strict selection process follows. This selection is essential to select only the very best grapes for making this Malbec. According to the winemaker, this is the only way to guarantee its high quality. It is then aged for a year in oak barrels, fifteen percent of which are new, the rest used. This beautifully rounds out the wine, resulting in a delicious, generous, and complex red wine.
A full and powerful La Posta Fazzio Malbec
The color of this Malbec is stunning, a beautiful purple! La Posta Fazzio has a vibrant nose of red and black cherries, ripe plums combined with floral notes of violets and petals. The palate is stunning! Notes of vanilla, oak, chocolate, black fruit, spices, and much more. Even though the vineyard is only ten years old, none of that is evident, as this La Posta is so full-bodied and powerful! La Posta Malbec Fazzio pairs well with merguez sausages, grilled ribeye, lamb roulade with rosemary, and aged cheeses.
