Lafage has become a permanent fixture in our range. Domaine Lafage is nestled between the azure Mediterranean and the mighty Pyrenees, in the far south of France, between Perpignan and the coast. The estate boasts 140 hectares of vineyards on predominantly chalky soils. Today, Domaine Lafage is owned by the sixth generation of Lafage family. Jean-Marc and Eliane can be found at the winery daily. They have further elevated Lafage wines and are now known worldwide for their wines. One of these delicious wines is this Lafage Cote Est.

White wine from Grenache Blanc and Vermentino

The Lafage Cote Est owes its name to the vines planted from east to west. This arrangement ensures the grapes receive less direct sunlight, resulting in a fresher wine. This Lafage white wine is made from Grenache Blanc and Vermentino grapes. The soil on which the vines are planted consists of sandstone mixed with gravel and calcareous clay. This also has a positive influence on the grapes. Winemaker Jean-Marc Lafage is often found in the vineyards, ensuring the grapes receive everything they need. Once the grapes have reached the correct ripeness at the end of the growing season, Jean-Marc begins the harvest. The bunches are carefully brought in one by one. After pressing, vinification takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature, according to grape variety. The final blend is then created, and a short period of bottle aging follows in the Lafage cellars.

The taste of the Lafage Cote Est

After all this effort, the fantastic result is certainly worth it. For lovers of fresher wines, this Lafage Cote Est is an absolute must-try. Poured into the glass, the wine reveals a beautiful light yellow color with vibrant green reflections. On the nose, we noted pleasant aromas of exotic fruits like peach, apricot, and papaya. The palate is refreshing and slightly lively, balancing the exotic fruit with notes of citrus and green herbs. The mild, slightly refreshing finish makes this Lafage white wine a true gem. Delicious as an aperitif, but also perfect with summer salads, white fish, or goat cheese.
