The Les Jamelles Sauvignon Blanc is blended with grapes from no fewer than five select terroirs. This white wine owes its freshness and minerality to features including the Thau Lagoon Basin, the dried-up marshes of Marseillette, and the Aude Valley near Limoux. Temperature fluctuations are pronounced, with extremely hot days on one side and very cool nights on the other. This allows the Sauvignon Blanc grapes to develop their citrus aromas and flavors. The grapes are grown on the slopes of the Orb Valley, which gives the wine its roundness.
Handmade wines from Les Jamelles
Founded in 1991, the Jamelles winery has established itself both nationally and internationally with its unique, handcrafted wines. The quality is exceptionally high, thanks in part to the unparalleled craftsmanship of its enthusiastic winemakers. The two young winemakers, Catherine and Laurent Delaunay, are the fourth generation at the helm. What makes this family unique is their use of diverse terroirs, uniquely combining the unique characteristics of each vineyard. This makes each wine unique and of exceptionally high quality.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested very early in the morning to preserve their freshness. They are then taken directly to the winery where they are immediately pressed. Alcoholic fermentation follows, which takes place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius. The wine matures on the fine lees at low temperatures for only a few months. Malolactic fermentation is skipped to preserve the wine's freshness.
The aroma and taste of Les Jamelles Sauvignon Blanc
The beautiful pale color makes the Sauvignon Blanc sparkle attractively in the glass. The nose reveals aromas of passion fruit, wild strawberry, citrus, and occasional vegetal notes. The palate is delightfully fresh and mineral, with good acidity and a refreshing, lingering finish.
