The secret of Les Jamelles wines lies in the diversity of their terroirs. And this Viognier is no exception. The finest grapes are harvested from different terroirs, combining to create a unique, high-quality wine. Each one is a true classic from the world-renowned Les Jamelles winery. For over a hundred years, the Delaunay family has been at the helm of these high-quality wines. This fragrant Viognier demonstrates their true potential like no other.
A fresh Viognier from Les Jamelles
The grapes for this aromatic Viognier come from various terroirs. But the most important are the Thau Lagoon Basin and the dried-up marshes of Marseillette. The soil here consists of calcareous clay with rounded river stones, while the other soil types consist of slightly salty, loamy clay. This, combined with the high temperatures, allows the grapes to ripen optimally. As a result, they develop pleasant yellow fruit flavors and make this Les Jamelles Viognier delightfully fresh. The grapes from the mid-height vineyards of the Hérault Valley and the slopes of the Orb Valley contribute to the wine's roundness and richness.
When the grapes are a beautiful golden color, it's time for the harvest. The grapes are picked and taken directly to the winery. A rigorous selection follows, after which alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The temperature is continuously monitored. A large portion of the cuvée undergoes malolactic fermentation for added aromatic complexity. Finally, this Viognier is aged on the fine lees for 6 to 9 months.
