This Grauburgunder is a gastronomic "friend of everyone." It pairs well with a wide variety of dishes and also makes a wonderful aperitif. This juicy German Grauburgunder is refreshing yet full-bodied. The wine is well-balanced with soft acidity and a long, pleasant finish.

The very best wines from Guntrum

The name Louis Guntrum commands respect in many circles. The family has been cultivating wine since 1648 and has been located at its current location, on the banks of the Rhine River, on the Rheinalle since 1923. The family owns highly regarded estates such as the Oppenheimer Sackträger and Herrenberg, the Niersteiner Oelberg, Hipping, and Pettenthal. Today, the winery is run by the eleventh generation, Louis Konstantin Gruntum. The philosophy has remained the same throughout the years: use only the finest grapes from the finest vineyards to make the finest wine. Since Louis Konstantin Gruntum took the helm, the winery has strived for excellence, perfection, and the expression of terroir in its wines. Growing organic grapes, albeit uncertified, is a given for the family. Guntrum's masterpieces are Rieslings, both dry and fruity. Konstantin has been president of the Nierstein Winegrowers Association since 2009. He is also a member of the Rheinhessen Wine Guild and the Conf'rie St. Etienne d'Alsace at Château de Kientzheim.

The many aromas of Louis Guntrum Grauburgunder

Originating from vineyards on the rolling slopes of Rheinhessen, Germany. The soil consists primarily of loam. The grapes are hand-picked for this Louis Guntrum Grauburgunder. The grapes are briefly macerated on the skins. The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. After fermentation, the wine is aged on the lees (sur lie). This softens the wine and adds complexity. The aroma is aromatic, with notes of tropical fruit and spice. The taste is fresh, yet full-bodied, white wine. Plenty of ripe fruit (peach and pear) and a long, spicy finish.
