The crowning achievement of Jerome and Aurelie Vic, the couple who currently own the magnificent Maison Robert Vic winery. A pioneer in the Pays D'Oc region for years, thanks to their friendly, high-quality wines. We've been huge fans of the winery for years. The launch of Maison Robert Vic Prestige Chardonnay only made our hearts beat faster.
The French wines of Maison Robert Vic
The Maison Robert Vic winery is located in the far south of France, with the Mediterranean Sea at its doorstep. The wine region where it is located, Pays D'Oc, used to have a somewhat negative connotation. However, thanks to investments in the vineyards over the past decades, the quality has improved dramatically. This is partly due to the work of Maison Robert Vic, whose sheer craftsmanship demonstrates that it is one of the most impressive wineries in France.
The Maison Robert Vic vineyards are situated in a unique location in the south of France. A portion of the impressive 180 hectares of vineyards surrounds the Roque Haute volcano, which has long since ceased eruption and is now completely extinct. This creates a unique terroir that gives the grapes a distinctive flavor. The vineyards boast numerous well-known names, including crowd-pleasers like Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Vermentino, and Viognier. However, there is one grape that is indispensable: a guarantee for a perfect wine. We have it, of course.
A wood-aged Chardonnay from Maison Robert Vic
Maison Robert Vic only harvests the Chardonnay grapes when they are deemed just ripe enough by the couple Jerome and Aurelie Vic. The full, firm bunches are taken to the winery, where they are pressed. A portion of the juice, approximately 40 percent, is aged in oak for four months. This oak aging clearly influences the white wine. However, it never overpowers it, allowing the aroma and flavor of Maison Robert Vic Chardonnay to remain fresh and fruity, with hints of melon, papaya, and other tropical fruits. The sultry notes of honey and oak indicate the oak aging. Pure quality with a finish full of finesse.
