Description
Barbera d'Alba DOC Ruvei
Ruvei is a classic Barbera d'Alba with a fresh, fruit-driven style and a full, enveloping flavor. The grapes come from chalky clay with layers of whitish marl, which gives structure and balance in the glass.
Vineyards and region
The origin is Piedmont, Italy, within the Barbera d'Alba appellation. The vineyards are predominantly situated on calcareous clay soil with alternating layers of marl. This combination produces ripe, juicy fruit with backbone and a balanced, fresh veining.
Vinification and maturation
Harvesting is entirely by hand. In the cellar, the bunches are quickly destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation with skin maceration takes place at a controlled temperature, with regular pumping over for optimal extraction. How long is Barbera d'Alba Ruvei aged? Approximately one year, partly in large Slavonian oak barrels for softness and harmony, partly in stainless steel to preserve the characteristic fruit.
