Marius Reserva

Owner Mario Bonete is a classic man who also enjoys presenting and producing wines in a classic way. He has certainly achieved this with the Marius series! What's also special about this winery is that it's the only winery in the region that doesn't sell its wines to the cooperative, but rather produces and bottles them themselves. Together with contracted grape growers, they produce superb wines every year that are certainly successful in the international market.

Wood aging for this Reserva Marius

This Marius Reserva is made from two grape varieties, Monastrell and Garnacha. These two Spanish classics are aged entirely in oak barrels. This period, which lasts approximately 10 to 12 months, gives this wine a wonderfully rich character. However, before this red wine is ready, a great deal of work needs to be done in the vineyards. Both grape varieties are planted high in the ground and are at least 40 years old. Furthermore, each grape variety has different requirements for a balanced growing season. It is therefore important that each grape variety receives what it needs, such as sunshine, cool conditions, and sufficient nutrients. Therefore, considerable pruning in the vineyards is required to provide the grapes with the right nutrients. At perfect ripeness, the grapes are hand-picked and then pressed, after which vinification begins. The final oak aging of 10 to 12 months ensures a full-bodied and powerful result.

A true Reserva! The moment we poured this red wine, we were already convinced. The deep, dark red color with purple rims suggested this would be a big one. This is immediately apparent on the nose: ripe cherries and notes of plum, vanilla, fig, and oak complete this glass of wine. On the palate, this Marius Reserva is full and powerful with silky tannins. Beautiful hints of cherries and berries, along with dark chocolate and vanilla, make it a wine we love. The finish also completes this Marius Reserva. Full and long, it boasts notes of laurel, licorice, and vanilla! A top-notch red wine with a truly impressive finish.
