Description
Markus Molitor is an authority on the Riesling grape. Since taking over his father's winery in 1984, he has specialized in this area. With Alte Reben Riesling Trocken, Markus Molitor has another ace up his sleeve. It clearly demonstrates the versatility of the Riesling grape. Simple adjustments can create a completely different character. This is precisely why Riesling remains a highly sought-after wine among wine connoisseurs.
The oldest vineyards of Markus Molitor
Markus Molitor, the current owner of the winery that bears his name, decided to take over the family business in 1984, at the age of 20. The winery has been run by the Molitor family for eight generations. It boasts no fewer than 15 different vineyards, situated on the banks of the Mosel River. This means that some vineyards are incredibly steep (sometimes up to 80 percent). Riesling dominates the vineyards, and with this grape variety, Markus Molitor has already won many hearts. The grapes of Markus Molitor Alte Reben Riesling Trocken are planted on arguably the most beautiful vineyards in the winery's range. These steep slopes boast vines up to 100 years old! This is why the winemaker earned the Alte Reben designation. Uniquely, the grapes are all harvested by hand, as mechanical harvesting is simply not feasible due to the steepness. The grapes are taken directly to the cellar after harvest for immediate pressing. Because some fermentation takes place in wooden barrels, Markus Molitor Alte Reben Riesling Trocken achieves the typical, complex aroma and flavor of Riesling. The vinification of Alte Reben Riesling Trocken
Markus Molitor Alte Reben Mosel Trocken is a dry, fresh, and aromatic Mosel Riesling, balanced by a rich minerality, a complex flavor, and a lingering finish. Fruity aromas with notes of minerals and floral herbs. Very juicy, full-bodied, and complex with a long, lingering finish. This wine can be aged for many years.Product details
