The perfect location for Marques de Caceres
The Marques de Caceres winery was founded in 1970 in Cenicero, in the Rioja Alta wine region. Due to its high altitude, the winery benefits from a relatively cool microclimate, resulting in high-quality Tempranillo and white Viura grapes. In recent years, they have invested in modern equipment for grape selection and vinification. The new Excellens series is the result.
A fresh and rich white wine from Marques de Caceres
This delicious white wine is made from Viura and a small amount of Verdejo. White wines from the Rioja region aren't necessarily known as fine whites. Because Viura wasn't a particularly flavorful grape in the past, it was often aged in excessive amounts of oak. The flavor was often overpowering, with too much vanilla. By using modern techniques, Marqués de Cáceres has succeeded in producing a very pleasant Viura Verdejo with only a light touch of oak. The resulting color is a light straw yellow that looks very appealing. The aroma translates into delicate aromas of citrus, grapefruit, apple, and a hint of vanilla. The taste is wonderfully fresh and rich. Citrus notes are subtly interspersed with milder notes of white fruit. The finish is intense with a refreshing undertone. Definitely worth trying a white wine from the Rioja again!
