But Marques de Riscal wanted to go further and, in the mid-1970s, saw potential in an unspoiled corner of Spain. The estate purchased vineyards in the lesser-known Rueda, and the rest is history. Today, Rueda is a leader in Spanish white wines.

A grape that was completely unknown 20 years ago, but has exploded in quality and popularity. It often creates fresh, invigorating, and accessible wines. However, Verdejo is exceptionally well-suited to aging. Marques de Riscal has applied this technique to Marques de Riscal Finca Montico, and the result is stunning. The grapes, sourced from the Montico vineyard, are first hand-picked. After a rigorous selection process—only the finest grapes make it into the final wine—the wine is aged for four months in steel silos. This gives this Spanish wine more flavor and character, something you're sure to fall in love with.
