This red Petite Syrah from McManis recently won a Best Buy award in Wine Enthusiast, and we couldn't agree more. A deep red wine with a very spicy character—that's what this McManis Petite Syrah is all about. The Petite Syrah grapes are grown in California and receive the winemaker's undivided attention, as he's a true fan of this red grape. You can taste all the love in this wine!

Quality wines for four generations

The McManis family has been farming in the northern California countryside for four generations. In 1990, fourth-generation farmer Ron McManis and his wife Jamie founded McManis Family Vineyards, and today they cultivate over 2,600 acres of grapes. They produce a variety of white and red wines from grapes sourced from ten vineyards. While production levels are high, the quality of the wine has never compromised. McManis is known and loved for its big, bold, and intensely fruity wines. With great attention to nature, they employ labor-intensive methods such as defoliation, and they continually invest in new techniques. All this with a single vision: to produce the finest wines and grapes in the Northern San Jaoquin Valley using sustainable viticulture.

The harvest and taste of Petite Sirah

The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small crates to prevent damage. This is followed by aging in new and used oak barrels. This period is crucial for the wine to mature, allowing it to develop rich flavors and develop a smooth palate. The aroma reveals a typical Petite Syrah, full of abundant black fruit, light spice, a hint of pepper, and a hint of toffee and clove. The palate is full and complex with a beautiful softness. The abundance of dark berries and light spice makes this an unparalleled wine.
