Varietal(s) Pinot Noir

For five generations, the McManis family has focused on grape growing in Northern California. For this Pinot Noir, the finest grapes are selected from their own sustainable vineyards around the San Joaquin Valley. They employ sustainable viticultural techniques, and with great care, only the basic strains and clones that thrive in the region's soil and subclimate are used. Pinot Noir thrives here, and thanks to the expertise of this winemaking family, an elegant wine with a unique character is created.

6 months of wood aging for McManis Pinot Noir

The McManis family has been in business since 1990 and is one of America's leading wine producers. They have a meticulous eye for detail in their vineyards, and their commitment to sustainable practices has earned them green certification. Currently, they own an impressive 2,700 acres of premium grape varieties across 10 fully managed vineyards. The Pinot Noir grapes are harvested in the afternoon around late August or early September. The grapes are fermented on the skins for 6 to 9 days, after which the must is pressed. The wine then ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. It then ages for 6 months in new and used French and American oak barrels. A very small percentage of Petite Syrah is added for added texture and color.

The fruity character of McManis Pinot Noir

This Pinot Noir radiates a ruby red color in the glass. The nose reveals fruity aromas of strawberries and cherries intermingled with vanilla notes. The palate is full and smooth with a hint of blueberry. It is rounded, and the finish of this Pinot Noir is a balanced blend of fruity grape flavors and the vanilla and cream contributed by the oak aging. The wine is silky smooth on the palate with notes of red fruit and vanilla, culminating in a clean, lingering finish.
