The young New Zealand winery Misty Cove is known for its pure and distinctive wines made from grapes grown in Marlborough and Central Otago. Winemaker Andrew Bailey and his Dutch wife, Marieke, founded the company. Andrew's dream of the Misty Cove winery was born in Europe and became a reality after returning to New Zealand. The Misty Cove vineyards are located in prime locations in Marlborough and Central Otago, the world's southernmost wine-growing region. Bailey focuses on regional differences, which offer him the best possible blending potential to produce truly exceptional wines. The grapes are sourced from seven strategically selected vineyards in the Wairau Valley, Rapaura, and Omaka Valley. Two of the Misty Cove winery's seven vineyards have now been converted to 100% organic farming and are BioGros NZ certified. Thanks to his Dutch wife, Andrew regularly visits the Netherlands, and as a result, his wines have become well-known in restaurants and wine shops.

Handmade Chardonnay

Misty Cove's Landmark Chardonnay is strongly influenced by ancient winemaking techniques. Lovingly handcrafted in small batches, this wine was created to reflect the "Landmark"—the attributes and characteristics of the Fareham Lane vineyard from which it originates. Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed directly into 30 percent new French barriques, with the remaining juice pressed directly into 1- and 2-year-old French barriques and then fermented with indigenous yeasts.

Enjoy a fruity Chardonnay from Misty Cove

This Landmark Chardonnay gleams light gold in the glass. The aroma is characteristic of a classic Chardonnay, with aromas of peach, melon, tropical fruit, and a touch of oak in the background. The fruit, oak, and acidity are beautifully balanced, as is the delicate finish. This wine has a full body and a soft texture, with a good weight of ripe fruit balanced by the judicious use of toasted oak. The finish is dry and long with a hint of toasted oak.
