Misty Cove's signature Pinot Noir is strongly influenced by ancient winemaking techniques. Lovingly handcrafted in small batches, it reflects the characteristics of the Gibbston Valley vineyard where the grapes originate. Here, the winemaker worked meticulously, devoting each individual plot to ample time, attention, and warmth. This was essential for the subsequent pressing and processing of the grapes into a perfectly harmonious wine.
The Landmark wines of Misty Cove
Misty Cove is a boutique winery located in the renowned Marlborough wine region, in the north of New Zealand's South Island. It was founded in 2008 by New Zealander Andrew Bailey. He learned his craft with local winemakers before moving to the Netherlands, where he successfully built his wine import and sales business. His dream of the Misty Cove winery was born in Europe and realized upon his return to New Zealand. Misty Cove vineyards are situated in prime locations in Marlborough and Central Otago, the world's southernmost wine-growing region. The wines of the Single Vineyard "Signature" line are handcrafted in small batches and reflect the characteristics of each vineyard. Production follows Old World values and processes combined with modern technology.
Hand harvest for Landmark Pinot Noir
These were harvested by hand and then carefully processed. The individual batches that make up this wine were treated traditionally, allowing the natural fruit concentration and ripe tannin structure to shine. After 10 months of aging in 100% French oak barriques: 35% new, 30% one-year-old, and the rest two years old. Only select barrels were chosen for this beautifully divine and complex blend. The result is a delicious Pinot Noir with a delightfully sweet and inviting aroma. Cherries, plums, raspberries, and forest fruits. The fruit truly bursts from the glass. The aroma also reveals a touch of licorice. A seductive mouthfeel with silky tannins and good acidity. Perfectly balanced. A truly distinctive Pinot Noir of great class.
