A beautiful white wine from New Zealand, but with a Dutch twist. Pioneer and winemaker Andrew Bailey's wife is Dutch. Marieke is fully involved in the family winery, Misty Cove, which she and Andrew Bailey purchased a few years ago. After a long career as winemaker at various large and well-known wineries around the world, Andrew Bailey decided to start his own winery. He found his fortune in New Zealand and purchased several vineyards in Marlborough and Central Otago. This quickly proved to be a great success, and Misty Cove's wines have already made headlines internationally. They have received numerous gold medals and awards, and as far as we're concerned, they'll soon be receiving another double gold, especially after tasting this Landmark Sauvignon Blanc.
The best wine from Marlborough
For this top-quality wine from the Landmark series, the finest bunches are selected from the refined vineyards. The vineyard from which this Sauvignon Blanc is made bears the name Fareham Lane. Here, the climate and terroir are perfect for a top-notch harvest. Abundant sunshine, the refreshing sea breeze, and falling nighttime temperatures contribute to a powerful Sauvignon Blanc. The harvest is hand-harvested at ideal ripeness and rigorously selected. Each bunch is inspected and, after pressing, aged on the lees for at least six months. During this period, the grapes mature gently, developing a fuller, more mature aroma and flavor.
Full and very powerful this Misty Cove Landmark Sauvignon Blanc
Pure beauty was our first thought when we first tasted this wine. Initially, we smelled ripe aromas of yellow and citrus fruit. Later, as this white wine swirled in the glass, we also detected hints of lime zest, fresh green herbs, and a touch of passion fruit. On the palate, the palate was caressed by a wealth of ripe white, citrus, and exotic fruit. The beautiful flavors of the diverse fruits meld beautifully, creating a true delight. Minerals and fresh herbs on the back of the palate complete the experience.
