Immerse yourself in the world of Montecillo Rioja Reserva, a wine that embodies the essence of Spanish finesse and tradition. For over 145 years, Bodegas Montecillo has been synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. And with this Reserva, they truly let their passion and dedication to winemaking shine. This wine is a symphony of intensity, aromatic depth, and rich body.
The Art of Making a Sublime Rioja Reserva
As one of the oldest wineries in Spain and the second oldest in the Rioja Alta, Bodegas Montecillo has a rich history dating back to 1870. Under the inspiring leadership of the Osborne family, the winery has become a bastion of tradition and innovation.
This Reserva is a masterful blend of 90% Tempranillo, 8% Garnache, and a touch of 2% Mazuelo. Each grape is carefully harvested and vinified separately. Techniques like pre-fermentative maceration in barrels and post-fermentative maceration give this wine its unique character. After these processes, the wine is aged for 25 months in handcrafted French and American oak barrels. But patience doesn't stop there: after bottling, the wine rests for another 20 months in the cellars, adding even more complexity. The result? A wine worth every second of the wait!
The Taste Experience of Montecillo Rioja Reserva
Upon opening a bottle of Montecillo Reserva, you're greeted by an enchanting cherry red. The aroma is a rich blend of spicy notes, vanilla, and black fruit, combined with hints of licorice and mint. These complex aromas promise a lot, and the taste doesn't disappoint. The wine has a beautiful structure, elegant tannins, and a lingering fruity finish. Ideal with meat dishes, aged cheeses, or a delicious stew. Cheers to the refined flavors of Montecillo Rioja Reserva!
