Vintage Report
A calm and fresh growing season allowed the grapes to grow in balance and be harvested at perfect ripeness.
A somewhat lesser-known wine from New Zealand: Mount Riley Pinot Gris. Mount Riley is an excellent winery established in 1994 in Marlborough. Marlborough is New Zealand's most famous wine region, located in the north of the South Island. Mount Riley's home base is Blenheim, a town in the heart of Marlborough. With Cloudy Bay, Saint Clair, and Nautilus as neighbors, Mount Riley is in excellent company. In over a quarter-century, Mount Riley has developed into a significant winery.
The vineyards for this excellent Pinot Gris
Before the winemaker releases the bottles to the cellars, a great deal of work goes into the process. It begins in the Pinot Gris vineyards, located on the coast in the Wairau Valley. The salty influences of the sea, combined with the fresh wind, give these Pinot Gris grapes a beautiful, natural freshness. Pinot Gris is often described as slightly sweet. This delicious white wine from Mount Riley certainly isn't. The calm and cool growing season allows the grapes to mature in a balanced way. The winemaker ensures sufficient pruning in the vineyards, ensuring the grapes receive all they need. At perfect ripeness, the grapes are hand-picked and then transported in small crates to the winery. The grapes undergo a gentle pressing, allowing the finest juice to reach the tanks. After vinification, the wine is aged in the bottle for three months, after which it is ready to drink. The taste of Mount Riley Pinot Gris
We're incredibly curious about this Pinot Gris from New Zealand. In the glass, we see a beautiful, light golden color that looks rich. Nosing it, we smell delicious aromas of ripe yellow fruit, apples, and pears, with a hint of sweet mandarin at the finish. These aromas translate into a pleasantly fresh Pinot Gris that still has a recognizably subtle Pinot Gris sweetness on the back of the tongue. The beautiful flavor nuances of pear, apple, and the slightly floral notes create a very pleasant experience. A perfect white wine to pair with sushi.Product details
