We love Pinot Noir wines from New Zealand. One of our favorites is definitely this Mount Riley Pinot Noir. Mount Riley is an excellent winery established in 1994 in Marlborough. Marlborough is New Zealand's most famous wine region and is located in the north of the South Island. Mount Riley's home base is Blenheim, a town in the heart of Marlborough. With Cloudy Bay, Saint Clair, and Nautilus as neighbors, Mount Riley is in excellent company. In over a quarter-century, Mount Riley has developed into a significant winery.
9 months of wood aging for this Pinot Noir
The vineyards for this beautiful Pinot Noir come from various estates in the Wairau Valley, located in the renowned Marlborough wine region. By using multiple plots, the winemaker can produce a complex and full-bodied wine with a fruity character and depth of flavor. At the perfect ripeness of the Pinot Noir grapes, each plot is harvested individually and by hand. This harvest takes place early in the morning to ensure the delicate skins are more resistant to bruising on their way to the winery. Once they arrive at the press, the grapes are gently pressed to capture the finest juice and achieve the distinctive Pinot Noir color. After vinification, this Pinot Noir wine is aged for nine months in French and American oak barrels for a perfect finish.
Why buy Mount Riley Pinot Noir?
Well, the winemaker certainly achieved that perfect finish. What a beautiful red wine this is! In the glass, we see a beautiful, bright ruby-red color that immediately suggests Pinot Noir. The aroma reveals ripe red fruit aromas like cherries and berries. Plum aromas are also discernible. On the palate, this Mount Riley Pinot Noir is soft and supple, ripe fruit. Fine texture. Slender, yet well-rounded. Harmonious with good length. A lovely accompaniment to chicken or veal dishes.
