A Merlot with its own unique style, full-bodied and complex yet wonderfully smooth, just as the grape is meant to be. Winemaker David Ready Jr. says of his wine, "This is no wimpy Merlot," roughly translated as "This is no wimp." And we agree! In 1974, Jess Jackson purchased 32 acres of land in Lakeport, California, and planted it with grapes. And so began the now iconic Kendall-Jackson winery, which, after Jess's death in 2011, is run with equal passion by his children and family, the Jackson Family. They prioritize people and the environment. With the arrival of the Murphy Goode winery, the winery expanded. Murphy Goode was founded in 1985 by friends Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and Dave Ready. In the United States, the winery is known for its straightforward, award-winning wines and its casual, unpretentious style. The winery is still run by the same family. Tim Murphy's three sons manage the business, and Dave Ready's sons are responsible for winemaking.

Full and very powerful this Murphy Goode Merlot

Murphy Goode's beautiful Merlot vineyards are nestled in the heart of California. Their thirty-year-old vines produce ripe, full bunches. They require a great deal of attention, which is why winemaker David Ready Jr. spends his days at this vineyard. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small crates to prevent damage during transport. This is followed by oak aging to give the Merlot more depth, and it's a resounding success. The warm aroma reveals hints of black fruit, blueberries, light spices, vanilla, and oak. The palate is complex and warm, with abundant fruit nuances of blackberry, cherry, and plum. The finish reveals a beautiful interplay between the oak aging and the characteristics of the Merlot grape: lovely light spices, plums, vanilla, caramel, and a touch of oak.
