Description
Opus One 2022 Napa Valley
A Napa Valley icon, born from the unique collaboration between Château Mouton Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. The first vintage was produced in 1979 and officially announced as a joint venture in 1981. The name, chosen by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, evokes a musical masterpiece and underscores the ambition behind this cuvée. Snippet question: who leads the house today? Opus One became an icon with Michael Silacci as winemaker with full responsibility for the vineyard and cellar.
Vineyards and region
The grapes come from the United States, California, within the Napa Valley appellation. This is where Opus One originated as a beacon of top quality in a region that gives Bordeaux grapes their own distinctive expression.
Vinification and maturation
Opus One operates with a cohesion between vineyard and cellar that has been honed since 2004 under the direction of Michael Silacci. The estate was officially launched in 1981 and has since become a benchmark for classic, long-lived Napa blends.
