South African Traditions at Oude Kaap

After a bit of research, we discovered that this beautiful winery belongs to the DGB Group, also known as Douglas Green Bellingham. And we're no strangers to them, as they've been crafting some of South Africa's finest wines since 1990. Oude Kaap crafts its wines with a rich blend of tradition and modern winemaking techniques. We taste this in this full-bodied Chardonnay, which bears the name Reserve Collection because it's aged in oak barrels. Oude Kaap's Chardonnay vineyards are located in the Franschhoek wine region, where the grapes on the old vines receive ample sunshine. The bunches ripen perfectly but also benefit from the refreshing breeze from the ocean. This creates the perfect balance between warmth and coolness, allowing Oude Kaap's winemaker to harvest a full and powerful harvest.
