A wine with a special story; a wonderful tribute to the very first sparkling wines. Sparkling wines, from Cava to Champagne, are now an integral part of the wine world. However, it all began in the south of France, in Languedoc-Roussillon, near the village of Limoux. In 1531, the very first sparkling wine was discovered and produced at the Abbey of Saint Hilaire. It was called "Prima Perla." A name that is still inextricably linked to sparkling wines. That's why Paul Mas also gave this name to the Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs.

A sparkling wine from Paul Mas

Since the discovery of sparkling wines in 1531, we can safely say that sparkling wine is almost 500 years old. Much has changed since then, but the production method has remained virtually unchanged. Sure, some things have been modernized, but the principle remains the same. With this vision in mind, the winemakers at Paul Mas set to work. Here, they certainly understand tradition with a modern twist. This Paul Mas Prima Perla Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs also uses a classic grape: the Chardonnay. The location of the vineyards, with their rich clay and limestone soil, combined with the authentic second fermentation, results in a superb, incomparable sparkling wine.

Impressions of Paul Mas Prima Perla Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs

Before the Paul Mas Prima Perla Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs begins its second fermentation, the juice is aged for nine months on its own lees. This ultimately ensures that the taste of this Paul Mas wine resembles a true champagne. Let the iconic champagne cork leave the bottle with a dull pop and fill your glasses. Get ready for white flowers in bloom and fresh brioche. Silky bubbles on the palate warm your taste buds for the finish. Refreshing with a hint of toast and brioche: exactly as Paul Mas Prima Perla Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs should be.
