High quality Petra wines
Petra Winery is located in San Gemignano, Tuscany. The winery is run by Victor and his daughter Francesca Moretti. "Petra" means stone and represents the passion and dedication they bring to winemaking. They have 300 hectares of vineyards, forests, and olive groves. The soil is diverse and very fertile, resulting in exceptional wines. The Merlot grapes for this wine are planted in the Quercegobbe vineyard in the Val di Cornia valley. This hilly location quickly proved to offer the perfect conditions for this grape. The vines are deeply rooted in the clayey soil, which gives the grapes their wonderful characteristics. The grapes are harvested early in the morning, allowing them to retain their freshness. In the winery, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in oak barrels. Finally, the wine is aged for 18 months in barriques, followed by another 18 months in bottle. So, we need to be patient before we can enjoy this gem. But the long wait is more than worth it.
