The rich and long history of the Philipponnat family dates back to 1522, when they were already producing various wines in France. But the big step was taken by Auguste and Pierre Philipponnat, who founded Champagne Philipponnat in 1910. They acquired one of the finest 18th-century cellars, along with a magnificent vineyard. The family is still active and still owns the magnificent estate. It is located in Mareuil-sur-Ay, five kilometers east of Epernay and surrounded by the finest Grand Cru vineyards. Over the years, they have invested heavily in the winery and utilize modern winemaking techniques. All this without compromising the ancient traditions co-invented by Auguste and Pierre Philipponnat. One of their key priorities was the extended aging of all Champagnes in the cellars. This yields greater strength and refinement, which determines the beautiful quality that has also been recognized by Robert Parker. Because all Champagnes from Philipponnat have been awarded high scores.

The harvest for the rosé from Philipponnat Champagne

This top-quality rosé from Philipponnat Champagne is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier grapes, with some aged Pinot Noir added later. But let's take families to the old vineyards of Philipponnat Champagne. They manage seventeen hectares, all classified as Grand Cru. The finest bunches produce a wonderfully rich Champagne, explains the Philipponnat winemaker. Besides their own vineyards, they also source grapes from highly respected growers. They have a long-standing relationship with these growers, which has significantly improved the quality. After the grapes are harvested, they are hand-picked one by one. Only the finest bunches are used during the harvest, ensuring the purity of this Philipponnat rosé. After the blend is determined, the bottles are aged for at least three years in the Philipponnat cellars. It develops its soft mousse and powerful flavor. Did you know that each bottle has a disgorgement date printed on it? That's the date the bottle was removed from the cellar—nice, isn't it!

The aroma and taste of the Philipponnat rosé

The bottle alone is a beauty, but it doesn't stop there. Upon opening, the aroma is immediately palate-pleasing. This is a feast for the senses, with hints of cherries and strawberries. In the glass, it shimmers beautifully light pink with a red shimmer. Fine bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass to the surface, enveloping our senses in a delightful sensation. Upon touching the nose, this Philipponnat Rosé offers the most beautiful aromas of red fruit, grapefruit, lime, and a touch of toast. On the palate, the palate is pampered with soft, fresh nuances of currants, lime, and grapefruit. Swirl it around the mouth, and you'll also taste fresh red fruit, a touch of vanilla, and a touch of spice.
