Varietal(s) Chardonnay

The Chardonnay grape thrives in the Langhe region, particularly on the hilltops, where it's too cool for red wine production, but perfect for a grape like this. The Chardonnay comes from the "Il Bricco" vineyard, in the heart of the Barbaresco region. Here, the grape can develop its wonderful character. This Piodilei Langhe Chardonnay from Pio Cesare is highly recommended.

Five generations of top wines

For 135 years and across five generations, Pio Cesare has been producing wines in his ancient cellars in the center of Alba. The Pio Cesare winery was founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio. A highly successful entrepreneur, he was inspired to produce a small, select batch of wines from the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco for himself, his family, friends, and customers. Cesare Pio was dedicated to the terroir of the Piedmont region and to producing wines of the highest quality. Over the years, Cesare Pio has built a thriving business. It is a true family business, and today Cesare's great-grandchild is at the helm. The grapes are harvested in small baskets, then gently pressed at low temperatures and fermented in French oak barrels (not new). It remains on the lees for eight months before bottling.

The aroma and taste of Piodilei Langhe Chardonnay

And then it's time to savor the expansive aromas of this Pio Cesare Piodilei Langhe Chardonnay, including brioche, pineapple, wood, vanilla, and butter, along with lovely caramel and a hint of hazelnut. The palate is bold and rich, powerful and full-bodied, with the typical richness and butteriness of Chardonnay. On the back of the tongue, this Pio Cesare Piodilei Langhe Chardonnay offers nuances of coffee and caramel, beautifully classic and expansive. It pairs well with fish dishes, pan-fried flatfish, mussels, white meat, salads, and, of course, perfect as an aperitif.
