Wines made from Chardonnay are not eligible for any of the DOCs and are therefore given the IGT Langhe, the general regional designation. Chardonnay thrives here, especially on the hilltops, which are too cool for producing red wines. The Chardonnay for this wine comes from the 'Il Bricco' vineyard, in the heart of the Barbaresco region. The grapes are hand-harvested as late as possible, usually in late September. The wine undergoes fermentation in French oak barrels. It is then aged in barrels for a year. This results in a beautiful Chardonnay, wonderfully rich and toasted, complex and broad.
