Bodegas Faustino, synonymous with quality wines from Rioja, has expanded its expertise to Ribera del Duero. In the 1990s, they saw potential in a land overlooked by many. With determination, they planted Tempranillo grapes in four unique vineyards: Roa, Gumiel de Izán, Villanueva, and Gumiel del Mercado. Thanks to the high altitude, some 850 meters above sea level, wines of exceptional power and character are now produced here.
Fourteen months maturation in oak barrels
Faustino's vision proved to be a bull's-eye. These vineyards now produce harvests that are the envy of the wine world. The unique combination of sunshine, south-facing slopes, and cooling winds allows the grapes to ripen slowly. After a careful hand-harvest, the grapes are transported to Portia, where they mature for fourteen months in oak barrels, giving the wine its rich complexity.
Tasting notes by Portia Crianza
Prepare for a flavor explosion. The deep purple color with a black hue promises plenty. The aromas are rich and seductive, with notes of black fruit, vanilla, oak, tobacco, and spice. Every sip is a delight, with soft tannins, spicy nuances, and hints of roasted nuts and smoke, complemented by ripe berries and sweet spices. The long finish is the perfect conclusion to this Spanish sensation.
