The vineyard is situated at a very high altitude, with the vines reaching an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. The choice of this vineyard was partly influenced by Nicolas Catena's daughter, Laura. She is part of the team that meticulously selects each vineyard to obtain the best vines. And they've certainly succeeded; the Malbec grapes enjoy abundant sunshine and the cooling breeze from the mountaintops. The sharp drop in nighttime temperatures contributes to the freshness and consistency of the harvest. After harvesting the Malbec grapes, which is done entirely by hand, this red Retamo wine is aged in oak. French and American oak are used to give it more depth. It's a wine that seduces you from the start, because as soon as the bottle is opened, we smell abundant spices, black fruit, and a hint of cedar. Grab a large glass, because this Malbec reveals everything; in the glass, it turns dark red with a purple glow. All our senses are stimulated, and with our noses to the glass, we noted the most beautiful impressions of spices and jam, a touch of chocolate, sweet plums, and vanilla, as well as a hint of mocha. From the first attack on the palate, we were captivated: very seductive, ripe, and juicy with plenty of black fruit. The pleasant notes of spices and vanilla give this red Malbec its power.
