A true Sauvignon Blanc from the South African winery Reyneke. Wonderfully fresh with just the right character. This white wine displays beautiful layers, with the freshness of lime and lemon at the forefront.
High-quality grapes from Reyneke
Before Johan Reyneke fully focused on viticulture, he studied philosophy. In 1998, he took over his mother's wine estate and decided to combine these two passions. He believes that all living things deserve an equal footing. Therefore, he immediately applied the principles of biodynamic founder Rudolph Steiner. And without being dreamy or vague, he is working towards being completely self-sufficient. Since Johan's approach, the wines have improved enormously. Far fewer sulfites are used because the grapes are harvested more healthily. And thanks to the natural yeasts used, the quality of the wines has also significantly improved. Reyneke's wines are each pure, concentrated, and complex.
At optimal ripeness, the Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested from organic vineyards. In the winery, some of the grapes are first destemmed and then pressed. The remaining grapes are harvested later and pressed whole bunches without destemming. The must is cold-settled overnight in stainless steel tanks. The must is then transferred to seasoned French barrels where natural fermentation takes place. Finally, the wine is aged for eight months on its coarse lees in barrels before bottling.
A beautiful, balanced Sauvignon Blanc from Reyneke
Clear notes of lime and hints of blackcurrant and flint leap from the glass. It's a very lively Sauvignon Blanc with lovely, bright notes of fresh lime and lemon zest. A wonderfully fresh South African Sauvignon Blanc with a pleasant acidity to balance it out. Perfect on its own, this Sauvignon Blanc also pairs well with light dishes like shellfish and shellfish.
