Our Review

New approach from Reyneke, fewer product lines, more focus per wine: delicious. Very South African on the nose, much smoother in taste, and beautifully integrated good juice. Nicely made. 4.2 out of 5 stars.

Reyneke Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, Stellenbosch, South Africa

The Reyneke Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 comes from one of the first certified biodynamic wineries in South Africa. Reyneke operates entirely according to biodynamic principles, viewing the vineyard as a living ecosystem. What does that mean for the wine specifically? By avoiding synthetic agents and actively improving the soil, more balance is created in the vineyard, which translates into purer fruit and more expression in the glass.

This wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Stellenbosch.

Origin: Stellenbosch

The vineyards are located in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's most renowned wine regions.

  • Cooling ocean influences: ensure balance and preservation of freshness.

  • Granite-rich soils: contribute to structure and depth.

  • Biodynamic cultivation: promotes healthy soil and natural balance.

This combination results in Cabernet Sauvignon with concentration and structure, without losing the character of the grape.

Grape and Vinification

Cabernet Sauvignon – Stellenbosch
Cabernet Sauvignon is known for its structure, ripe tannins, and aging potential.

The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with natural yeasts. Subsequently, the wine matures in French oak barrels, with careful attention paid to the proportion of new wood to maintain balance and complexity.

Character and Style

In the glass, this wine displays a deep ruby red color. The style is characterized by concentrated dark fruit, structure, and a long finish. The biodynamic approach and meticulous vinification result in a wine with power and precision.

Serve around 16°–18°C to allow its structure and balance to fully express themselves.
