This Merlot from Ropiteau is soft and refined, hailing from the beautiful Pays d'Oc wine region around Carcassonne and the Haut Languedoc. The old vines produce very ripe and full bunches, resulting in a silky smooth wine.
Elegant wines with specific characteristics
With the arrival of a railway line to Meursault, Jean Ropiteau saw a great opportunity for his own winery. He gave up his work as a winemaker and cooper and started his own winery in 1848. The name Ropiteau quickly became synonymous with quality Burgundy, specializing in white wines. Even today, these quality wines are still aged in the 17th-century cellars of the former "Caves de l'Hôpital," in the heart of Meursault.
The vines for Vin de France wines can be planted throughout France. The cellar master determines the blend of the various grapes and draws on his expertise to ensure consistent quality. The winery works closely with various winegrowers to produce the finest wines. All wines are vinified in oak tanks and aged in oak in the Ropiteau cellar. In these cellars, the team strives to achieve elegant wines infused with the specific characteristics of their terroirs.
Completely hand-harvested for the Merlot Les Plants Nobles
After being hand-harvested, this Merlot is aged briefly in oak barrels in the Ropiteau cellars. This allows winemaker Nicolas Burnez to develop more depth and distinctive flavors in this Merlot. And then we too can enjoy this delicious red wine. This Merlot gleams ruby red in the glass. It's an elegant yet powerful red wine with rich aromas of dark fruit and a hint of spice. The palate is even more powerful with a spicy note and ripe tannins. This Merlot pairs beautifully with meat dishes, both pan-fried and grilled, and with many cheeses.
