The fruit bursts from the glass in this lightly sparkling Rosa Regale Brachetto d'Acqui from the Banfi winery. This sparkling red wine is made from Brachetto, a highly aromatic and complex grape variety grown exclusively in the Acqui Terme region of southern Piedmont. Cold maceration of the grapes, followed by a gentle pressing, allows for the extraction of the typically intense aromas from the skins and gives the wine its characteristic light ruby red color. Very pleasant and exceptionally elegant.

The Castello Banfi estate

Banfi is a unique winery with an estate of no less than 2,830 hectares, 800 of which are planted with vineyards. This makes Castello Banfi by far the largest and most important producer of Brunello di Montalcino. The estate is dominated by a beautifully restored medieval castle. The estate was acquired by the Mariani family in 1978, who have since dedicated their efforts to elevating their estate's wines to the top of the DOC. Although Banfi is based in Tuscany, this hasn't stopped the company from also operating in Italy's other major wine region, Piedmont. American wine lovers, in particular, are completely captivated by this pleasantly sweet sparkling red wine. Brachetto d'Acqui is a rare wine produced primarily in Monferrato, where Brachetto grapes are planted on southwest-facing slopes at an altitude of 250 to 400 meters, giving the wine both sweetness and freshness. The grapes for this enticing wine are fermented at a low temperature to give it a particularly delicious fruity character. After fermentation, it is bottled with the carbon dioxide from fermentation, resulting in a refreshingly sweet red sparkling wine.
