The collaboration arose from the desire to produce excellent South African wines with a French twist, thus serving both Rupert and Rothschild's interests. The village of Klapmuts was chosen as the site for the new vineyards. Situated right between Paarl and Stellenbosch, it is at the heart of South African wine growing. With well-known neighbors like Boschendal, Thelema, and Warwick, we are certain the location is prime. The Chardonnay grapes grow in magnificent vineyards. The perfect location plays a significant role in the growth process of the Chardonnay grapes used for this Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons Baroness Nadine. The vines are planted near the mighty Simonsberg, which towers majestically over the landscape. This mountain acts as a natural barrier against the elements, allowing the Chardonnay to effortlessly develop its finest juice.

Impressions of Baroness Nadine

The bunches are harvested by hand. This is to ensure that only the finest and fullest bunches become part of Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons Baroness Nadine. After fermentation, a small portion of the precious juice is then lightly aged in new French oak. Because the oak is new, it releases an incredible amount of flavor. This results in a lush aroma of honey, blossom, and white peach. A zesty note of lemongrass creates a pleasant tingle on the nose. The taste is reminiscent of pure grapefruit, ripe peach, and roasted almonds and macadamia nuts. This truly sets this Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons Baroness Nadine apart from all other South African Chardonnays.
