And yet another delicious Italian red wine. This wine comes from the Piedmont wine region. The region now has DOCG status, which guarantees the quality of the wine. The grape used for this wine is Barbera, and the wine must contain at least ninety percent of this grape. This type of wine is characterized by its rich, dark fruit notes.

Centuries-old winery Marchesi di Barolo

The Marchesi di Barolo wine cellars are located in the town of Barolo. It's been over two hundred years since they began producing wine here. Anna and Ernesto Abbona, now the fifth generation, still believe in the tradition and quality of the wines from this region. This beautiful location boasts unique soil and climate, and produces a wide variety of wines. Their tradition and experience in winemaking have ensured that this generation also produces wines of excellent quality. The Barbera grape is the most commonly used grape variety in this region. Around the town of Asti, you'll find this variety growing everywhere in the hills. Its flavor is characteristic of the Piedmont wine region.

The vinification of Rure Barbera d Asti Marchesi di Barolo

After harvesting, the Barbera grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed in the cellar. This releases the aromatic components from the skins and outer layers of the grape. Fermentation takes place in thermo-controlled tanks at 27 degrees Celsius. Maceration lasts eight days, during which the wine comes into contact with the must. Finally, the wine is aged in oak barrels, but primarily in concrete. This ensures that the Marchesi di Barolo Rure Barbera retains its balance and elegance. What an intense wine this is, full of power and robustness. This Rure Barbera d'Asti has a beautiful dark color that invites the nose. Marchesi di Barolo manages to bring a fullness of black fruit to this wine, as well as jam, spices, and roasted hazelnuts. The flavor is exquisite and stylish, with a beautiful dose of oak, spices, pepper, black fruit, nuts, and vanilla. In fact, too much to mention.
