Santa Rita is one of Chile's premier wineries. Housed in a historic building, the winery was founded in 1880 in Chile's Maipo Valley. They offer a wide variety of wines. Their production ranges from mid-level Medalla Real to their flagship lines, including the excellent Floresta line and the seductive Casa Real Cabernet, expertly crafted by Chilean winemaker Sebastián Labbé and his team, using grapes sourced throughout Chile. The grapes are selectively harvested at peak ripeness. A further selection process takes place in the winery, with only the finest grapes being selected for pressing. Quality is paramount, so the selection is rigorous. Fermentation follows at a controlled temperature between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius. Everything is focused on preserving the fruit and concentration. Sixty percent of the wine is aged for eight months in French oak barrels, and the remaining 40 percent in stainless steel vats.
What does the Santa Rita Medalla Real Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?
The grapes come from the Alto Jahuel vineyards. Thanks to the favorable climate, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes develop exceptionally well here. The result is an expressive ruby-red wine with aromas of black fruit and hints of vanilla, tobacco, and clove. The palate is well-balanced and medium-bodied. It pairs perfectly with meat dishes or a cheese board.
