Hand harvest for Stoneburn Gewurztraminer

For this wine, we travel to New Zealand. This relatively young wine country has grown into a world-class producer. Various wines are now produced here, the most well-known being Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The Gewürztraminer grape is also increasingly being planted here. The Stoneburn vineyard was established in 1989 in the heart of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. The vineyard has continued to develop, resulting in consistently higher quality. The soil consists of rocky loam, which gives the grapes a rich flavor. The wines are fresh, lively, and beautifully balanced. In the early morning, when it's still pleasantly cool, the ripe Gewürztraminer grapes are hand-picked. At the winery, the grapes are then destemmed, crushed, and lightly pressed. The resulting juice is then transferred to stainless steel vats for temperature-controlled fermentation. During this process, the fruity character is central, as it must be clearly expressed. Afterward, the wine is harvested from the lees to preserve the fresh fruit. It is then blended and finally bottled.

4 As soon as we pour the Gewürztraminer, we immediately enjoy fresh and vibrant tropical aromas. Peach and pear emerge, complemented by herbaceous notes. On the palate, this wine has just the right amount of bite and pleasant acidity. It's a well-balanced wine, pleasantly dry, and with a refreshing finish.
